We’re now Family Allies of Marin.

For over 35 years, you've known us as Adopt A Family of Marin, a trusted resource for local families facing housing instability and homelessness.

This year, we became Family Allies of Marin.

When choosing a new name, we interviewed donors, staff, and the families we work with. Based on their input, we knew "Family" needed to remain at the center of everything we do. We also kept circling back to the word "ally":

ally
verb: to unite or form a connection between
noun: a person or group that provides assistance and support in an ongoing effort
(Merriam-Webster)

Both meanings describe our work. We stand with local families to prevent homelessness and help them stay on steady ground. We also bring people together, connecting the families we work with to local partners and supporters like you. Stability takes all of us.

Our new name also better reflects the full scope of our work, well beyond the holiday program. Today we help with rent and security deposits, utility bills, credit repair and car repairs, and provide a case manager to work one-on-one with each family for lasting stability. Our model pairs direct assistance with personalized case management to build stability. It works: more than 98% of the families we work with avoid homelessness over the long term, in a county where housing costs leave little margin.

Adopt A Family remains an important part of our story. It lives on as the name of our year-end holiday giving program, a tradition our community keeps alive.

Thank you for standing with Marin families. We're grateful to do this work alongside you.
